"Taking Charge of Your Career Future"

Too many people today leave their career in the hands of fate. As a successful Career Advisor, I am amazed at the number of people that allow their careers to run on auto pilot. It is no wonder we have such large numbers of unempoloyment. I'm not saying this is the only reason we have record unemployment, however I truely believe that far too many people do not proactively plan and manage their careers, so it stands to reason that many could have made better choices to reduce their exposure to the volitility of the market. There are many times during our careers when a specific course of action could enable us to avoid becoming a casualty of a company layoff or reduction in force. It is critical to be in touch and aware of the warning signs and also to become more proactive in managing our career. It is equally important to position ourselves strategically within our organizations in order to become more essential to the success of the business, and less likely redundant. As a 20 year Career Consultant, I spend more time helping my clients create an effective strategic career plan that enables them to follow a predetermined path and avoid unforeseen pitfalls. "It's all about planning"
